China Glaze Hunger Games Luxe & Lush & Sally Hansen HD Cyber

OK, so I am a huge Hunger Games fan. When I saw the China Glaze collection, I about freaked out. I did abstain from a lot of them, though. I'll post the others that I DID get another day.

Today's swatch is of Luxe & Lush. In the bottle, Luxe and Lush looks like lovely rainbow flakies.

I started with a base of Sally Hansen HD Cyber

Photobucket

Pretty, red-toned purple. To be honest, L & L confuses me, because its clearly a top coat and I would never want to layer it over a single other polish in the HG collection. A lot of browns, taupes, tans... not really good bases for rainbows.

Anyway. I'm only going to post one picture of L&L

Photobucket

What. The. Hell. Is. This.

These rainbow flakies are actually more like shards of glass. They were lumpy, jagged, not even rainbowy, and all-around unpleasant.

Three coats of gelous could not tame this bish.

Updates and new stuff - flakie edition

So the whole world has been an unending shit show since last october. DF was diagnosed with cancer, my great uncle apparently died in June and this bitch who was "taking care of him" never bothered to tell us (very long story), my beloved grandmother passed away, among other things... its been... bad. I've still been around and about, but I just didn't have the patience to think about writing on this. I would take pictures of my nails but never post them, so i have a lot of them built up O_o

Anyway... on to the polish. Some of you may have seen these already, and I apologize, but I do have a bunch of fun new things :)

Barielle Elle's Spell over red jelly

Photobucket

Isn't it lovely? I waited a long time to wear this, but its worth it :) Elle's Spell is a dark red, sheer jelly with opalescent flakies. The flakies look like every color of the rainbow in the bottle, but mostly appear green and gold while on the nail.

Photobucket

Sooooooooooo pretty :)

Next up: Essie Luxeffects in As Gold As It Gets (over Zoya Sarah)

Photobucket

I really like this one... Its a very sheer champagney gold flake, no opalescence or glitteries in this one

Photobucket

It doesn't get the love of its ultra fantastic friend Shine of the Times, but I still like it :)

Speaking of Shine of the Times...

Photobucket

Whee! I don't know why there's only one picture of this D: Also, I don't have a clue what its over...

Sally Hansen Glass Slipper over Joe Fresh Wave

Photobucket

This one is strange... it really looks like crushed glass... no shimmer, no opalescence, just clear flakes in a clear base.

Photobucket

The thing with this is that it makes polish look pitted, like you had little bits of gravel stuck in your polish at some point. I don't love it...

That's all for now :3

*EDIT*

Of course, I forgot to add one...

Finger Paints Flecked over Chine Glaze Sexy in the City

Photobucket

I really like this one!

Green and teal flakies in a milky base. To look at all of the FP flakies in the bottles, they all look alike... But they turn out a little better on the nail lol

Orly Happy Go Lucky - Frisky. It kills my camera.

Alright. Frisky is one of those camera-freaking-out colors that are so much fun to wear and a pain in the ass to try to show you. In reality, Frisky is a very pretty, bright, Tiffany blue. It looks more Tiffany than China Glaze's For Audrey could ever hope to be. (I know that my disdain of For Audrey makes some people angry, but I'm sorry, For Audrey is not nearly green enough.)

The day I took these pictures was extremely overcast and my camera couldn't handle the pressure to accurately capture this color... Except on my pinkie.

I don't understand it, but there it is.

This wreaked havoc on my cuticle beds, running into them, getting all thick and weird, and chunky/crusty, but the color was amazing. I had been dying to get Frisky forever and I never saw the display in Ulta, and the one I did see in Sally's only had one bottle of Fresh left. Well, apparently, Ulta moved this (and the entire Fowl Play collection) into the permanent display! Well fine then, I'll accept that lol.

Now I just need to get the other three and I shall be happy.

Forgotten Loves Week - Day 1

This week's theme is forgotten loves, something you love but haven't worn in 4+ months. Having passed the 300 bottles landmark recently, i'm sure you can imagine that it's a) impossible to wear a lot of the same colors repeatedly in 4 months when you have so many to choose from and b) hard to choose a color that i love and haven't worn in a while.
I had the girls from the NB choose for me by selecting numbers, and the winner was one I actually wanted to wear lol

China Glaze Blue Sparrow is from the summer 2008 Ink collection, most of which, if not all, is still available at Sally Beauty. Blue Sparrow is a bright, neon blue with cerulean glitter. Its jellyish finish wise, and needs a top coat because neons dry semi-matte, which is gross.

EV +2.0, iso auto, wb auto
(I put down my camera settings because if you've ever tried to photograph your nails, its such a pain to get crisp, color accurate pictures in less than perfect lighting. Even on sunny days my color accuracy is way off. Today is very grey, medium brightness, slight rain.)

I can ALMOST smell the ocean...

Leaving on vacation early friday morning!

Today i slapped some China Glaze Blue Iguana on my toes, and some Sally Hansen Purple Diamond on my tips.

I love these two polishes :)
